Online Books
The most recurring problem faced by many acquisition librarians is delay in receiving books from book suppliers or bookstores. Some of the books take 2 months to be delivered. The worst thing happen when they do not meet their promises. They mentioned on the status report that the books will be delivered within 2 months but it drags for another few months. We as an acquisition librarian on the other hand be blamed or at least feel guilty by the late delivery of books.
What is the solution to that? Subscribe to ebrary or netlibrary, the ebook database providers. But still, not all books required by the lecturers are available. Next possible solution is to find out ebooks from the publishers. Examples:
